PREVENT Duty Briefing

These sessions will provide knowledge of the Prevent agenda, background context into terrorist organisations, indicators and vulnerabilities of those at risk of radicalisation, an understanding of the Channel referral process and information on making a referral.

The PREVENT strategy aims to safeguard and divert those who are vulnerable or at risk of being drawn into terrorism as 25% of the Government’s counter terrorism strategy CONTEST.

The key objectives of this training focus closely on supporting best practice, they are to:

  • Respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism, the threat we face from and those who promote it.
  • Protect vulnerable adults, children and young people at risk of being drawn into terrorism.
  • Work alongside sectors where vulnerable adults, children and young people are at risk of radicalisation; identifying how we can address this.

Training packages have also been adapted for individuals with visual impairments and can be accessed on request via georgialee@sthelens.gov.uk
