Preventing Terrorism
With the UK's threat level rising to SEVERE on 26th April 2026, we all have a responsibility to raise our awareness around the risk to our community from extremist and terrorist organisations and/or individuals.
These sessions will provide knowledge of the Prevent agenda, background context into terrorist organisations, indicators and vulnerabilities of those at risk of radicalisation, an understanding of the Channel referral process and information on making a referral.
The Government's PREVENT programme aims to safeguard and divert those who are vulnerable or at risk of being drawn into terrorism as part of the Government’s counter terrorism strategy CONTEST.
The key objectives of this training are:
-
To raise our awareness of terrorism, extremism and radicalisation.
-
To understand left- and right-wing extremist beliefs.
-
Looking at different case studies highlighting radicalisation
-
How to protect vulnerable adults, children and young people at risk of being drawn into terrorism.
-
How to refer someone to PREVENT so they receive early intervention and support which will challenge their current beliefs.
