Welcome to the website of St. Helens Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Each Local Authority area is required to bring together all major organisations responsible for delivering services to children and young people. The purpose of the Partnership is to co-ordinate what is done by each agency to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in the area, and to ensure that this work is effective. We have a legal responsibility to monitor and scrutinise the work of all agencies and partners, and to challenge poor practice where it is identified.

The Safeguarding Children Partnership will work as closely as possible with all those who make a contribution to the safety and welfare of children in St. Helens, especially the most vulnerable. However, it will be essential that we challenge and secure robust evidence of good practice and outcomes.

It will be a priority to be aware of the real experience of local children and we will make every effort to hear and respond to what children say, so that we address their needs as fully as possible. As always, there is much to do - but, working with partner agencies, we are committed to encouraging positive differences to the lives of our children in St. Helens.'
